Bible crafts are a great tool for keeping little hands busy and you teach them about God’s Word
Creation Crafts for Preschoolers
These crafts about Creation are appropriate for kids of all ages. Feel free to modify them based on the ages and abilities of the children you are working with. Younger children will need help cutting out the pieces and assembling the Creation crafts. Older kids are perfectly capable of completing these crafts on their own. Again, you will need to adjust these crafts to make them best work for you.
While these crafts will work for various ages, they work especially well for preschool kids. That’s because the craft is simple. These Creation crafts for preschoolers are designed to capture their curiosity and direct it into something tangible and fun. This particular hanging wall art craft (and its variations) will keep their little hands busy and give them a sense of accomplishment when they see their finished product hanging proudly on their wall.

Tips to Make Things Easier
As a former preschool teacher and children’s minister, I have worked with kids of various ages and group sizes. One of my favorite craft hacks for large groups is to assemble craft kits in preparation for the crafting event. This hack is simple: gather your supplies and place what each child will need inside a quart gallon-size zipper-top bag. For example, in the case of this Creation craft for preschoolers, you will include the cut-out printables and pieces of yarn. The glue sticks and crayons or markers can be accessible on the table. Pre-assemble craft kits also make it a breeze to distribute the supplies. It’s a win-win!
Cutting out the printable pieces ahead of time will save a lot of time and headaches. Ask me how I know! You can also go ahead and fold the cardstock pieces that will hang from the pieces of yarn to make things easier. And if you’re really short on time, feel free to tie the yarn pieces onto the printable pieces so all the little ones need to do is color and glue the pieces onto the yarn. Invite your friends over for a craft kit-making party! Do what works best for you!
Printable 7 Days of Creation Crafts: What You’ll Need
Speaking of supplies, let’s discuss what materials you will need to make this hanging wall art. We will talk about additional supplies for the variations of this project later. You will need per child:
- The free Creation Crafts printable
- 2 pieces of Cardstock
- 1 pair of Scissors
- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
- 1 Glue Stick
- Yarn (1 12″ piece for the hanger and 7 14″ pieces for the hanging pieces)
*Adult helpers will need a hole punch
Creation Crafts: Instructions
Step 1: Print It out
Now that you have everything ready, let’s get crafting! First things first, download and print the 7 Days of Creation Crafts free printable found at the bottom of this post. The printable includes all the necessary designs for your hanging wall art. It features images representing the seven days of creation and the Bible verse “In the Beginning God created. . . ” (Genesis 1:1) Print out the template on sturdy paper, like cardstock, for best results. This will help your wall art hold up well once it’s hanging.
Step 2: Color Away
Next up, it’s time to let the kids unleash their inner artists! Give them colored pencils, crayons, or markers, and encourage them to color each of the images on the printable. You can chat with them about what each day of creation represents as they color, fostering both creativity and learning.

Step 3: Cut Out the Images
Once the coloring is complete, it’s time for a little scissor practice. Of course, if you opt to cut out the pieces beforehand, you can skip this step. While having a large group of preschoolers cut out the printables may be too much for them (and you!) to handle, cutting with scissors helps younger children with fine motor skills. In addition, they’ll love the sense of independence they get from doing it themselves. But no judgment if you decide to cut out the pieces before crafting!
Step 4: Assemble the Wall Art
Now that you have a collection of colorful images, it’s time to assemble the hanging wall art!
- Using a hole punch, make a hole in each circle around the oval portion of the printable. There will be a total of 9 holes (2 for the hanger and 7 for the Days of Creation Crafts hanging pieces).
- Thread the shortest piece of yarn (12″) through the two holes at the top of the oval and tie a knot to create the hanger.
- Tie 1 piece of the remaining yarn pieces through each hole at the bottom of the oval cutout. Trim off excess yarn near the hole.
- On the blank side of each 7 Days of Creation crafts cutout, cover with glue and place the end of each yarn piece inside. Fold the piece in half to sandwich the yarn inside. Be sure to arrange your days of Creation, starting with 1, from left to right.
- Prominently display your work of art!
7 Days of Creation Crafts: Variations
While the primary Creation craft we have discussed today is the hanging wall art craft, the printable cutouts can be used to make other fun creations! Here are a few ideas:
7 Days of Creation Magnets
Additional Supplies:
- Magnet Tape
Cut each rectangle cutout in half to create two of the same image. After the child is finished coloring each of the 7 days of Creation, place a piece of magnet tape on the back of the image. It’s a simple way to create a collection of magnets to represent the Creation story! Always be sure to use caution when using magnets with children. . . especially little ones.
Creation Crafts: Creation Collage
Additional Supplies:
- Colorful Cardstock
Encourage your child to glue the oval cutout onto colorful cardstock. Next, have the child cut the rectangle pieces in half to create a square. Finally, have your child glue the squares representing the days of Creation onto the paper around the oval to make their unique Creation collage.
