Games for Fruit of the Spirit: Activities and More

If you are looking for more ideas to teach your child about the Fruit of the Spirit, you are in the right spot! I love teaching my kids about the Fruit of the Spirit because I want them to understand that the “Fruit” is a special gift given to us by God. In addition, my heart desires for my children to know how much God loves them because of how He cares for them and gives them the “Fruit” so they can walk out His purpose for their lives. God gives us the Fruit of the Spirit when we choose to live a life that follows His Word. We can’t buy, make, or grow the “Fruit” ourselves. It is truly a gift from God that only comes from knowing and serving Him.

Here are some more ideas for easy-to-implement games to help you teach your child about the Fruit of the Spirit:

Fruit Basket Turnover: This is a twist on the classic game of Musical Chairs. Instead of chairs, use large cutouts or pictures of different kinds of fruits to represent the Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). When the music stops, call out one of the Fruits. Kids must quickly find the corresponding fruit and stand on it. The one left without a fruit is out. Continue until only one player remains.

Fruit Relay Race: Divide the kids into teams. Set up a relay course with different stations representing each Fruit of the Spirit. For example, at the “love” station, kids must hug a stuffed animal before passing the baton. At the “joy” station, they could perform a silly dance. Customize each station to match the respective fruit. The team that completes the relay first wins.

More Fruit of the Spirit Game Ideas

Fruit of the Spirit Charades: Write down actions or scenarios related to each Fruit of the Spirit on separate pieces of paper. For example, “giving a compliment” for kindness or “praying for a friend” for faithfulness. Have one child pick a paper and act out the scenario without speaking while the other kids guess which Fruit of the Spirit it represents.

Fruit Toss: Set up baskets or containers labeled with each Fruit of the Spirit. Give kids bean bags or soft balls to toss into the baskets. As they successfully make a toss, have them share a way to demonstrate the corresponding “Fruit” in their daily lives.

These games provide opportunities for kids to have fun while learning about the Fruit of the Spirit.
