Feast of Unleavened Bread Craft

One of my favorite ways to teach children about Scripture is through storytelling and hands-on learning.

This spinner isn’t just another paper craft. It’s a visual timeline of God’s amazing rescue of the Israelites from Egypt. As children spin the wheel and read each section, they’re reminded that God hears His people, keeps His promises, and faithfully rescues those who trust Him.

The Story Behind the Spinner Wheel

The spinner includes these nine simple reminders:

Each phrase is short enough for young readers but meaningful enough to spark wonderful conversations about God’s faithfulness.

Children love interactive crafts because they become part of the story instead of simply listening to it. As they spin the wheel, they’re reviewing the Exodus story again and again without even realizing they’re learning.

Why Did the Israelites Eat Unleavened Bread?

This is one of the questions children ask most often.

The answer is actually very exciting!

When Pharaoh finally let God’s people leave Egypt, they had to leave immediately. There wasn’t enough time for their bread dough to rise with yeast, so they baked unleavened bread instead.

That simple bread became an important reminder.

Every year, God’s people celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread to remember how quickly God rescued them from slavery.

This Feast wasn’t really about bread.

It was about remembering God’s faithfulness.

Every bite reminded them:

“God rescued us.”

That’s exactly what we want our children to remember today.

This printable is designed to be simple for busy families.

You’ll need:

• Cardstock
• Printer
• Scissors
• Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils
• Paper Fastener (brad)

Most families already have everything they need on hand, which is the beauty of this Bible craft! If you’re feeling extra spicy, you can laminate the spinner so you can use it for years to come!

How to Assemble the Feast of Unleavened Bread Craft Spinner

Assembling this spinner wheel is fast and easy! Here’s how: Download and print the free printable found at the bottom of this page. Next, have your child color the spinner wheel pieces with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Then cut out the pieces with scissors. Younger children may need help with this step. Always use caution when using scissors with children.

Hint: If you are doing this activity with a large group of little kids, I strongly suggest precutting the pieces to save time and your sanity! Finally, stack the spinner wheel pieces and attach with a paper fastener. Use caution when using paper fasteners with young children, as they can be a choking hazard. And that’s it! Your spinner wheel is now complete!

One of the things I love most about this spinner is that it becomes much more than a craft once it’s assembled. Instead of coloring it and putting it away, encourage your children to use it throughout the week of Unleavened Bread.

Here are some fun ideas to put this Biblical Feast learning tool to good use:

Story Time Spinner

Rotate the wheel.

Wherever your child decides to have the spinner land, have them retell that part of the Exodus story.

For example, if they land on “God Heard,” ask, “Who was crying out to God?”If they land on “God Set Them Free,” ask, “How did God rescue His people?”This simple game builds Bible knowledge while strengthening storytelling skills.

Action Spinner

Children love to move!

Assign an action to each section.

God Heard — Cup your ears.
Moses Obeyed — March in place.
Pharaoh Said, “Go!” — Point to the door.

After each rotation of the spinner wheel, everyone says the memory verse together.

Feast of Unleavened Bread Craft Ideas for Groups

This spinner works wonderfully in classrooms, homeschool co-ops, church groups, and family gatherings.

Here are some fun ways to use it with larger groups.

Spinner Relay

Place children into teams.

One child spins.

The entire team must act out the matching action before the next child spins.

This game can produce lots of movement, laughter, and learning!

Spinner Story Circle

Sit in a circle.

Each child spins.

They tell one sentence of the Exodus story based on the section they landed on.

By the end, everyone has helped tell the whole story.

Prayer Spinner

After each child has a chance to rotate the wheel, they give thanks to God for something connected to that section.
