This Bible scavenger hunt will get your kids moving, thinking, and talking about the importance of putting on the Armor of God each day. I’ve created an easy-to-follow Armor of God game that includes everything you need: printable cards, a checklist for the kids to mark off their finds, and a few discussion questions that will help you dive deeper into each piece of the Armor of God.

Let’s talk about how you can use this Armor of God scavenger hunt in your home, classroom, or church group! I promise, your kids will love it.

What You’ll Need for the Armor of God Scavenger Hunt

Before we dive into the fun details, let’s make sure you have everything you need for this Armor of God scavenger hunt:

  1. Printable Cards: The game includes 6 cards, each representing one piece of the Armor of God. In addition, there are 2 bonus cards not listed on the checkoff list sheets. Kids will love searching for these special hidden cards! Each game card will help your kids understand the meaning of the armor as they search for them.
  2. Checklist: A simple checklist for kids to use as they find each card during the hunt.
  3. Pencils or Pens: Kids will need a pencil or pen to mark the cards they find. For safety reasons, you may choose to allow younger children to use crayons.
  4. A Place to Hide the Cards: Whether inside your house, in the backyard, or even at a local park, you’ll want to hide these cards in different spots to make the hunt exciting and engaging. You can even create a treasure map or give clues to make it more challenging!

Once you’ve printed the cards (you can find the download link at the end of this post!), cut them out and hide them in various locations. I recommend hiding the clues in age-appropriate locations to keep the fun going!

How to Play the Armor of God Scavenger Hunt

The rules are simple, making it perfect for kids of all ages. Here’s how you can set up and play the Armor of God game:

  1. Hide the Cards: Take the printed Armor of God game cards and hide them around the designated area. Each card represents a specific piece of armor that we need to face life’s challenges—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and Prayer (represented by the bonus cards).
  2. Start the Hunt: Once the cards are hidden, give your child the checklist and pencil. Explain the goal: to find all the pieces of the Armor of God! As they find each card, they’ll check it off on their list. Remind them that there are two special bonus cards for them to find! You could make the bonus cards extra special by giving each child who finds them a fun prize.
  3. Discussion Time: After each card is over, take a few moments to talk about the meaning behind each piece of armor. You can ask questions like, “Why is it important to put on the Belt of Truth?” or “How does the Shield of Faith protect us?” These questions will spark a discussion and help your kids connect each piece of the armor to real-life situations.
  4. Celebrate the Victory: After all the cards are found, take a moment to celebrate! You could even do a little recap of the armor pieces and let the kids explain what they’ve learned.

The Armor of God and Its Meaning

Now, you might be wondering – why it is important to teach kids about the Armor of God. Well, let me tell you! The Bible describes the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18, and it’s a powerful metaphor for the protection and strength we need to face life’s challenges. Let’s go over the pieces of the armor and talk about how they help us:

  1. Belt of Truth: The belt holds everything together! It reminds us to always live in truth, knowing that God’s truth keeps us strong and steady.
  2. Breastplate of Righteousness: This piece covers our hearts, protecting us from wrong choices and helping us do what’s right.
  3. Shoes of Peace: These shoes prepare us to go and share the good news of the Savior, bringing peace wherever we go.
  4. Shield of Faith: The shield protects us from doubts and worries. When we trust God, our faith becomes a shield against the enemy’s lies.
  5. Helmet of Salvation: This piece protects our minds and reminds us that we are saved through the Messiah. It helps us focus on His love and grace.
  6. Sword of the Spirit: The sword is the Bible! It’s our weapon for fighting against the enemy. What’s more, it’s our guide for living a life pleasing to God.
  7. Prayer: Finally, prayer is our communication with God. It strengthens us and keeps us connected to Him every day.

Each of these pieces helps us stay strong spiritually and reminds us to rely on God’s strength, not our own. By playing the Armor of God scavenger hunt, your kids will learn about these powerful truths. Also, they’ll begin to understand how to “wear” their armor in daily life.

Armor of God Game Fun!

This fun game for putting on the armor of God isn’t just for fun – it’s also a wonderful way to bond with your kids as you teach them important lessons from Scripture. After you finish playing the game together, ask your kids questions like:

  • “What does the Shield of Faith look like in your life?”
  • “How can you use the Sword of the Spirit today?”
  • “Why is it important to wear the Helmet of Salvation?”

These discussions will help your child connect their faith to everyday experiences. It’s a simple way to bring God’s Word to life in your home while encouraging your kids to engage with the story of the Armor of God.

Discussion Questions for Parents and Kids

Once the hunt is over, gather the kids together and have a discussion about what each piece of armor represents. Here are some great questions you can ask to deepen the learning experience:

  1. Belt of Truth: “How can telling the truth help us in tough situations? What might happen if we tell lies instead?”
  2. Breastplate of Righteousness: “What does it mean to do what is right? Can you think of a time when it was hard to make the right choice?”
  3. Shoes of Peace: “How can we bring peace to others? Can you think of a situation where you could be a peacemaker?”
  4. Shield of Faith: “When doubts or fears pop up, how can faith in God help us stay strong?”
  5. Helmet of Salvation: “What does it mean to be saved? How does knowing we are saved help us face challenges?”
  6. Sword of the Spirit: “How can reading the Bible help us when we’re facing tough times? What is your favorite Bible verse?”
  7. Prayer: “Why is it important to talk to God? How can we pray for strength and guidance every day?”

Asking questions like these will help your children understand how to apply the Armor of God in their lives and encourage them to keep using the armor in their everyday experiences.
